In an effort to ensure that children in Gauteng schools are healthy, MEC Hope Papo will tomorrow launch School Health Bus at Rooipoort Primary School in Wonderfontein, West Rand.
The bus, which is sponsored by Nedbank will form part of the School Health Programme which aims to improve children’s health, reduce health barriers to learning, and to assist learners to stay in school and perform to the best of their abilities.
The services that will be provided on the bus include Primary Health Care, Health Promotion, Eye Care and Dental Care.
In February, the bus was at Rooipoort Primary and 79 learners were screened and nine of those learners were referred to health facilities for specialised treatments and follow-ups while spectacles were prescribed for five of the learners.
