The North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Human Settlement, Public Safety and Liaison will be calling the MEC for Human Settlements and Public Safety and SAPS Management to account on senior police officials’ cases making headlines in the media recently. The meeting will be held in the Legislature Committee Room 2 at 7h30 on Thursday 15 August 2013.
The meeting will discuss the following cases;
- Recent alleged case of sexual harassment against General Patrick Asaneng
- Alleged abuse of police vehicles by General John Mabula
- Alleged disappearance of Papi Leburu who was last seen with Commander Irene Sefenya of Vryburg Police Station
- Alleged police brutality on Ms. Kgomotso Aphane and Emily Mahlasela during an incident that happened at the Crossing Mall near Mafikeng.
The Committee is expecting the department to also brief it on measures that it will be taking against those found guilty of the misconduct. All members of the media are invited to attend the meetings.
