MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko and Ekurhuleni Mayor Cllr Ngodwana to provide support to schools in Ekurhuleni as they kick-start academic year
The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko together with the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Councillor Sivuyile Ngodwana will tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 January 2023 lead the Back-to-School drive in Kwa-Thema and Langaville, Ekurhuleni in as part of providing support to schools as they kick-start the 2024 academic year.
The drive is part of the Gauteng Provincial Government’s (GPG) programme which seeks to ensure that there is effective teaching and learning and the appropriate resources such as learning materials and school nutrition programme amongst others are in place in all schools in the province.
The MEC and the Mayor help establish food gardens as part of the school nutrition programme and also plant trees at the schools including donating school shoes, backpacks and sanitary packs to identified learners.
In addition, MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko accompanied by and representatives from GPG Departments and municipal officials will hold a stakeholder engagement with the residents of Kwa-Thema and surrounding areas. The meeting will afford communities an opportunity to discuss challenges and interventions needed to improve service delivery.
