One thousand two hundred and thirty (1230) years of accumulating unbroken service to the people of the Free State will be honoured at a special event on the 30 January 2015. Seventy four (74) long service employees who have completed 10, 20 and 30 years of service in government and 2 other employees who have completed their Adult Education Training (AET) will be acknowledged and presented with certificates.
MEC for Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Mosebenzi Zwane will honour the dedicated officials for their lifelong service to the people of the Free State. The recipients are a combination of senior managers, middle managers, junior staff as well as general workers. The majority of the recipients come from the Environmental Affairs Chief-Directorate in the resorts and reserves. Recipients will be accompanied by their partners.
Since the programme started in 2008, over 250 officials have been awarded long service certificates. To demonstrate the commitment of the department to its employees, the department started the computer literacy courses for its cleaners and security guards to offer them an opportunity to take up administrative posts when available. Two of the workers who used to be cleaners have now been promoted to positions of receptionists.
The media is invited to the event.
