Motetema Crime Awareness event led by MEC for Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison Mme Mapula Mokaba Phukwana

The 2014 SAPS National Crime statistics in Motetema Policing area have shown an increase in the following crime categories as compared to 2013:
- Murder
- Total Sexual Crimes
- Common Assault
- Robbery with aggravating circumstances
- Malicious injury to property
- Burglary at residential and non-residential properties
- Theft of motor vehicle and Motor cycle
- Theft out of motor vehicle
- Stock theft
- Unlawful possession of arms and ammunition
- All thefts not mentioned elsewhere
Within the context of these developments, communities in Motetema Policing Precinct requested the MEC for Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison for assistance and intervention to mitigate the growing crime trend.
In response to the community challenge, the Department of Safety, Security and Liaison decided to organise the Crime Awareness Campaign at CS Barlow Hall to afford the MEC the opportunity to listen to community experiences on crime in order to offer strategic leadership and solutions.
