Tomorrow, 23 September 2014, Cultural Affairs and Sport MEC, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, will make a major announcement regarding the Western Cape government’s nomination to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for a number of our Provincial Heritage Sites to be awarded World Heritage Site status.
The MEC will also make an announcement about other sites which have been declared Provincial Heritage Sites through a process initiated by Heritage Western Cape.
These announcements come at the back of the MEC extensive visits to a number of our heritage sites across the province during this Heritage Month.
Much has been done by the provincial government to recognise and celebrate the Cape’s Colourful Heritage and we believe these achievements are a culmination of such efforts.
There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
