MEC Mbombo to launch Cultural Affairs Awards poster

Tomorrow, 11 September 2014, MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, will launch the Cultural Affairs Awards poster that will go up on street poles around the city and surrounds.

These awards are an opportunity for us to not only recognise Heritage Month but to also acknowledge and showcase the diversity of the Western Cape’s cultural landscape.

The very first Cultural Affairs Awards ceremony was hosted in 1999, and has since been held by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) as an annual event hosted by the MEC.

Awards have been given to organisations and individuals who have made a profound impact within the Arts, Culture, Language, Heritage, Museums, Archives, Geographical Names and Libraries sectors in the province over the years.

MEC Mbombo will put up the very first poster and will encourage the people of the Western Cape to nominate their local heroes.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
Date: Thursday, 11 September 2014
Time: 14h00
Venue: Green Market Square, street pole outside the Protea Assurance Building
