MEC Mathabo Leeto hands over sport equipment and attire at Welkom, 28 Jun

The Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Me Mathabo Leeto will be handing over sport equipment and attire to 50 Sport Clubs and 12 Sport Hubs.

This programme is aimed at affording youth & senior citizens with resources in order to grant equal opportunities to all our people irrespective of their background. As a Department, it remains our objective to unlock all the potential talent across the Free State Province. The affected codes are as follows:

  • Basketball X 10 Clubs
  • Cricket X 10 Clubs
  • Netball X 10 Clubs
  • Boxing X 10 Clubs and
  • Volleyball X 10 Clubs

The handover will take place as follows:

Venue: Kopano Indoor Sport Centre, Welkom

The second programme is Siyadlala Mass Participation where 12 Hubs have been identified in order to roll out the implementation of activities such as Indigenous Games, Senior Citizens, Bid Walk, Youth Camp, recreational activities and Aerobics. The following facilities have been identified by the Department as Hubs:

  • Fezile Dabi: Heilbron in Thusong Centre and Viljoenskroon at the Outdoor Gym.
  • Lejweleputswa: Bultfontein in Phahameng Stadium and Hertzogville in Malebogo Stadium.
  • Sipho Mutsi Indoor Centre in Kutloanong & Master Nakedi Indoor Centre in Parys
  • Mangaung Metropolitan: Mangaung Outdoor Centre and Mmabana Stadium. Dr Molemela Stadium
  • Thabo Mofutsanyana: Bethlehem in Bohlokong Stadium and QwaQwa in Thibela Stadium and lastly
  • Xhariep: Edenburg legacy stadium and at Ratanang Stadium in Jacobsdal
