MEC Marawu to address the launch of bus passenger transport insurance scheme

Eastern Cape Department of Transport MEC Thandiswa Marawu will address the official launch of the AB350 Ltd and Indwe Risk Services Road Passenger Transport Insurance Scheme at Dan’s Country Lodge & Events Centre, Mthatha on tomorrow, 23 April 2013 at 10h00

The launch is intended to create awareness about the purpose of the scheme for bus operators across the province, interested government representatives, AB350 stakeholders and local communities as well as focusing on the self insurance of busses in the province.

The purpose of the scheme is to empower Small Bus Operators by achieving the following objectives:

  • Savings on insurance premiums by bus operators due to the volume of busses insured under one umbrella. Premium rates competitive to current market offering.
  • Once critical mass is achieved at the end of a twelve month period – convert the facility into a combination of a self insurance/conventional insurance facility.
  • Out-bonus after three years of membership, with insurance premiums paid up to date.
