The MEC responsible for Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison, Ms Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana has the pleasure of inviting you to the closing of October Transport month. This year’s Transport Month organized under the theme “Together Moving South Africa forward” The province has been faced with road crashes involving stray animals throughout the provincial roads. Road Safety Unit engaged livestock farmers or owners with different programmes including education. The livestock farmers’ education programmes were supplemented with the fencing project and recently the supply of reflective neck belts to livestock as well as reflective ear-rings for the livestock.
The Department distributed approximately 150 000 reflective neck belts to livestock owners from 2009 to date.
This contributed positively towards the reduction of crashes caused by stray animals.
Members of the media are therefore invited to attend and provide coverage to this colorful event. The launch shall be arranged as follows.
