Scweizer-Reneke-MEC for Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development in the North West Province Mme Manketsi Tlhape, will on Thursday, 11 October 2018 lead the annual provincial world food day celebrations in Scweizer-Reneke town, Mamusa Local Municipality.
Held annually on 16th October, World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. People from and around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger.
This day also reaffirms that, food should become a human right for all, and that everyone has the right to access safe and nutritious food that is consistent with the right to adequate food and the fundamental right of everyone to be free from hunger.
In the North West Province, MEC Tlhape is expected to outline her department’s programme of action geared at eradicating hunger as well as successes of Letsema la MantshaTlala Programme.
Letsema la MantshaTlala is a provincial programme by READ Department aimed at alleviating poverty using sustainable livelihood approach, and thus contributing to integrated rural community development.
The 2018 provincial world food day event will be celebrated under the theme “Our action our future!”
