MEC Mahlangu to check on progress in construction of schools in the province

Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development Ms Qedani Mahlangu will tomorrow (Wednesday 22/05/13) assess progress in the construction of primary schools in the province. The site visits are in line with MEC Mahlangu’s commitment to ensuring that quality schools are built and completed in time, within scope and budget, to meet Gauteng’s growing demand for classroom space.

The MEC’s visit will start at the Chief Albert Luthuli primary school in Daveyton, a school that is set to be the new benchmark for project delivery, as it was constructed and completed within a record 4 months. The MEC’s visit is also a precursor to the delivery on the 30th May 2013, of the department’s 2013/14 budget vote, which will outline details of all school building projects for the financial year.
