MEC for Health Dr Magome Masike will officially inaugurate the newly elected Council for North West College of Nursing.
North West College of Nursing comprises of two government nursing based in Mahikeng and Klerksdorp. The college is tasked with training and producing nurses for the public health facilities.
The council comprises of representatives from communities, Union, student council and managers from the Department of Health. To serve in the council, members were inducted to familiarize them with the environment which they will be working under.
The council amongst others will:
- Advise the MEC on nursing education policies
- Promote access of students to nursing education
- Ensure effective management of both Mahikeng and Klerksdorp campuses
- Advise the department on any matter related to nursing education
