MEC Motlhaping to lead March on 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Children

MEC Lebogang Motlhaping, responsible for Transport, Safety and Liaison in the Province, will tomorrow lead a march on 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

The march will unfold on the backdrop of 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Children as observed yearly from 25 November to 10 December. The campaign seeks to heighten awareness on the negative impact of violence faced by women and children in society and encourages a permanent stand against all forms of abuse.  The call to end violence against women and children is a global call that advocates for people to speak up and take a stand against all forms abuse.

The march calls on all members of society to unite against the scourge of abuse facing women and children in our communities.  Various community based organisations and government organisations opposing the abuse of women and children such as the Department of Justice, Rise Abafazi, Provincial Men’s Forum and Life Line will join the initiative.

Campaigners will commence the march from Social Centre in Galeshewe, Kimberley and assemble at Pick ‘n Pay Circle where MEC Motlhaping will give a message of the day and various organisations deliver their messages of support.

Tomorrow, as part of the  call, campaigners will be dressed in white T-shirts that will be imprinted with an orange handprint as part of a collaborative stand with the global United Nations’ UNiTE Campaign utilizing the colour orange to represent a bright future, free from violence against women and girls.

Violence Against Women and Children affects us all and let us heed the call to stand united against all forms of abuse and ensure our women and children have safe environments to live and thrive in.
