MEC Ivan Meyer launches Biosafety Level 3 Mobile Laboratory, 28 Jan

Western Cape’s veterinary service to launch bio safety level 3 lab

Tomorrow, 28 January 2020, Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer, will introduce the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s Biosafety Level 3 Mobile Laboratory (BSL3).

It is expected that the BSL3 mobile laboratory will play a significant role in identifying high risk infectious disease caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites that spread between animals and humans.

It will also strengthen the ability for the Western Cape Provincial Veterinary Laboratory to perform some of these tests on site, reducing the response time within which a test result is available.

All media are invited to attend. (There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs).
