MEC Vadi to partake in UN Global Road Safety Week Campaign
Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport Dr Ismail Vadi will on Friday, 8 May 2015 participate in the United Nations (UN) Global Road Safety Campaign, an initiative where focus will be placed on Safety Belts and Children Restraints from the operations of traffic services and law enforcement.
During this week, in respect of the #SaveKidsLives campaign, the UN has extended an invitation to all road safety policy makers and advocates to “sign it”, “show it” and “deliver it” to those in charge of road safety in various communities.
Law enforcement agencies are encouraged to conduct operations to mark UN Global Road Safety Week throughout the duration of this campaign.
It aims to generate action to better ensure children’s safety, as well as promote the incorporation of safe and sustainable transport in the post 2015 development agenda on the Decade of Action for Road Safety.
The third Global Road Safety week was announced by the United Nations under the theme “Children and Road Safety: #SaveKidsLives”; a campaign launched in November 2014 and will take place during the week of 4 to 10 May 2015 with various activities.
Details of the visit are as follows:
Venue: Krugersdorp, route N14 and R55
