MEC Ismail Vadi opens rehabilitated Quagga Road, 17 Feb

Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport MEC Ismail Vadi will on Tuesday, 17 February 2015 officially open the Quagga Road in Laudium.

The R40 million rand project includes the rehabilitation of the road P39/1 from the Iscor Bridge to the K71 intersection in Laudium. SMME’s benefitted extensively with 40% of the works from the project.

The P39/1 road is an alternative north-south carriageway between Pretoria industrial and greater Johannesburg, to the N14/N1 freeway which carries very heavy and high volumes of traffic.

MEC  Vadi will also conduct a site visits to the R350 million P249 and R511 road projects to check on their progress made so far. The objectives of the projects were to construct a section of the proposed dual carriageway road K46 (P79-1) in order to improve access to the Diepsloot area and Fourways towards Randburg.

This section of dual carriageway road is also known as William Nicol Drive.  The major attraction on this roadway is the access to the Monte Casino, Indaba Hotel and the Fourways area shopping malls. The upgrades will improve safety for motorists on what is an extremely busy route.
