MEC Helen Sauls-August launches short learning programme for Chiefs and Councillors, 8 Nov

Eastern Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Ms Helen Sauls-August will launch a short learning programme that will better equip Chiefs and Councillors with better management of human settlements programmes. 

The programme is part of Hands-On-Support provided to all Municipalities, Traditional Leaders and officials to capacitate them on all human settlements programmes, policies and plans. The first phase of the learning programme is targeting 180 councilors, traditional leaders and officials from across the Province. It will focus on Sustainable Human Settlements Planning, Construction Management, Land Policy and Legislation and Project Management for Public Officials.

The programme will ensure skills development in policies, processes and systems in the housing delivery value chain.

The Department of Human Settlements has partnered with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University to train traditional leaders, councilors and officials on short Learning Programmes (SLP) on human settlements related learning areas.

The MEC of Human Settlements, Helen Sauls-August, together with the NMMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Derrick Swartz, will launch the partnership programme as follows:
