MEC Fikile Xasa unveils programme to empower traditional leaders, 20 Aug

R1,4 million programme to empower traditional leaders

MEC Fikile Xasa will unveil a R1,4 million programme tailor made to empower traditional leaders in Bisho next week.

The year-long which has been pitched at NQF Level 6, will be undertaken by the University of Fort Hare (UFH).

MEC Xasa said admission for enrolment to the programme has been granted to twenty (20) traditional leaders with matric certificates. 

“The programme will be offered in six block sessions at the UFH campus in Bhisho covering modules in History, Heritage and Ethics of Traditional Leadership. They will also learn about matters of Legal and Legislative Aspects of traditional leadership, Community Development Support and Leadership Development,” said MEC Xasa.

Public Administration, Financial Management, interpersonal Skills, self-management, Land, Mineral and Marine Resources Management, will also be part of the programme.

The unveiling session will be attended by the Vice Chancellor of UFH Professor Sakhela Buhlungu, the Chairperson of the EC House of Traditional Leaders, Nkosi Mwelo Nonkonyana, Cogta Head of Department (HoD) Ms Gabisile Gumbi Masilela and other senior officials of the department.

The event will be held on 20 August 2018 at UFH campus in Bisho at 08h00 am.
