MEC Debbie Schäfer launches official SGB election campaign to promote upcoming elections, 16 Feb

Schools and the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) are preparing for the biggest elections after the national, provincial and local government elections, namely, for school governing bodies (SGBs) throughout the province.

SGBs are essential partners in the combined effort in delivering quality education to the children of this province.

Tomorrow MEC Schäfer will be launching the official SGB election campaign to promote the elections. The campaign contains the message of the importance of participation amongst parents in these elections and choosing the right candidates with the relevant skills that will add value to the Governing Body and its school, such as legal, administrative or accounting skills.

Tomorrow, MEC Schäfer will also be outlining the importance of these elections and the important role that parents and members of the community have in electing the body who will oversee the running of their school for the next three years.
