Minister Debbie Schäfer to attend ‘Maths Solutions’ Conference presented by Cape Teaching Leadership Institute as well as the U15 Legends Cup semi-finals rugby game at UCT
On Monday 6 July 2015, Minister Debbie Schäfer will attend the ‘Maths Solutions’ Conference presented by the Cape Teaching Leadership Institute.
The improvement of mathematics is one of our primary objectives and therefore the WCED have a number of teacher development programmes on offer to help improve the development of teaching in this subject.
Ever since the establishment of the Cape Teaching And Leadership Institute (CTLI), teachers who have attended CTLI training courses would indicate a need to come together and share with colleagues what works best in their classrooms. It was out of this need that the CTLI embarked on coordinating Provincial Mathematics Solutions Conferences for GET teachers.
On Monday, Minister Schäfer will open the ‘Maths Solutions’ conference.
Minister Schäfer will also be visiting UCT where learners from schools within the greater Cape Town area are battling it out in the semi-finals of the Legends Cup at the University of Cape Town with the U15 semi’s starting at 10h00 and the U19s at 11h00.
The u19’s final will be played at Newlands on Saturday 11th July as the curtain-raiser to the Springboks vs World XV match.
The programme, which is in its seventh year identifies ex-Springboks and Bafana Bafana players who are unemployed, who are then trained by the Exercise Training Academy and work in 84 of our disadvantaged schools assisting with physical education.
All media are invited and welcome to attend either or both events.
