MEC Debbie Schäfer announces enrolment deadline for 2016 academic year, 19 May

Tomorrow, Western Cape MEC for Education Debbie Schäfer will be announcing the enrolment deadline for applications to schools in the Western Cape. In previous years, the WCED has had a two phase enrolment period. This year there is one deadline for enrolments.

In order to create awareness around the importance of early enrolment, the WCED have released a number of radio ad campaigns, billboards, taxi wrappers and banners in areas where we typically find late enrolments.

This year it has become abundantly clear that the main hindrance to placing children in schools is late enrolment. The onus is on the parents to ensure that their child is enrolled in schools timeously before the end of the previous school year.

MEC Schäfer will present to the media, the various aspects of this campaign that is aimed at parents who would typically leave enrolments to the last minute.

The WCED’s early enrolment campaign tells stories of people who are scrambling to enrol their children, after forgetting to do so. The stories are entertaining, but have a serious message.

Tomorrow, MEC Schäfer will be announcing the enrolment deadline for the 2016 academic year. She will also be outlining the importance of early enrolment as well as urging parents to enrol their children as soon as possible.
