Tomorrow, Saturday 7 November 2015, MEC Plato, will host the second last Provincial Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) consultation workshop for 2015/16.
The Tygerberg cluster, including the communities of Bellville, Bothasig, Brackenfell, Durbanville, Goodwood, Kraaifontein and Parow, will workshop a practical and implementable safety plan as part of the newly structured two day PNP consultation process. The draft safety plan is to be aligned to the specific safety needs and priorities within the communities represented.
The safety plan serves as a safety blueprint for communities which provide a shared ownership, responsibility and accountability to safety.
Background Information:
Between May and November 2015, the Department of Community Safety will bring together various stakeholders in the safety and security environment for each of the 16 police clusters for two-day consultative workshop and will include representatives of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Municipalities, Community Police Forums (CPFs), Community Safety Forums (CSF), non-governmental organisations, community based organisations, faith based organisations, Neighbourhood Watches (NHW), and other local safety stakeholders.
The aim of the workshops is to use the information generated by the 2014/15 PNP process – the findings and recommendations – together with the various Integrated Development Plan (IDP) engagements as a starting point for discussions at policing cluster and precinct level in drafting the area specific plan.
There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
All media are invited to attend.
