MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform Zoleka Capa cordially invites members of the media to attend her two-day engagements with rural development and farming stakeholders in the Cacadu District Municipality.
Following the tabling of the Policy Speech in the legislature, the MEC will be visiting Blue Crane (Sommerset East) and Sunday’s River (Kirwood) to explain how these municipalities will benefit in the department R1,7 billion budget.
Both the municipalities are set to benefit in the livestock improvement programme, which has been allocated R7 million for the provision of improved livestock breeds to emerging farmers in the province. They will further benefit in the department Siyazondla Programme that focuses on developing food gardens which has a budget of R5 million.
During the visit, the MEC will also be on fact mission on issues that relate to the citrus industry in the Sunday’s River Valley with the aim assisting and developing small citrus farmers through the department’s skills development programme, which has a budget of R8 million.
The MEC is exciting with infiltrating and interacting with these communities and is looking forward to listen to other issues that will be raised during these visits.
