On Thursday the Provincial MEC of Human Settlements, Mr Bonginkosi Madikizela will hand over a house to 83-year-old Mrs Ruth Mazo, her daughter and grandson in Mandela Park, Khayelitsha.
Mrs Mazo’s house caught fire in 2010 when her mentally-challenged daughter (50) accidentally set the house alight. With no insurance and no one employed in the family, the Mazo’s could not rebuild the house.
Upon hearing about the Mazo’s story through MEC Madikizela a Good Samaritan volunteered to privately assist Mrs Mazo. It is the generosity and participation of the public in partnership with the Department that can assist with alleviating the housing need in the Western Cape.
