MEC Anroux Marais addresses Western Cape Library Service Seminar in Cape Town, 11 Sep

Municipal libraries to receive R12.7 million at annual Provincial Seminar

On 11 September 2019, Cultural Affairs MEC Anroux Marais will deliver the keynote address at the 2019 Western Cape Library Service Seminar in Cape Town.

The Library Service Directorate conducts a seminar on an annual basis to discuss issues pertaining to Conditional Grant and Municipal Replacement Funding. The purpose of the seminar is to enhance the intergovernmental relations between national, provincial and local government.

At this seminar, the broad plans for the 2019/20 financial year will be discussed. Representatives from 25 municipalities will be in attendance and capacitated on various aspects of funding sources, inclusive of planning, implementation and reporting.

There will also be an official cheque handover ceremony for 8 municipalities receiving funding in the 2019/20 financial year towards new library projects and upgrades. A total of R12,7 million will be presented to the respective municipalities of Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay, Swellendam, Bergriver, Kannaland, Witzenberg, Theewaterskloof and Saldanha Bay.
