MEC Albert Fritz launches hygiene & drought awareness campaign, 14 Mar

MEC to launch Hygiene & Drought Awareness Campaign at Early Childhood Development Centres

Tomorrow, the Western Cape MEC of Social Development will launch the Department’s ECD Hygiene & Drought Awareness Campaign at the Teddy’s Den Crèche in Rugby, near Milnerton.

The campaign is part of the department’s efforts to raise awareness regarding the crippling drought, and to ensure that the health and well-being of children aren’t adversely affected.

Even as we look to reduce our water usage at ECD facilities, good hygiene habits must be maintained. Disease outbreaks, such as the current national listeriosis outbreak, can be made worse if good hygiene is not practiced.

The MEC will be joined by our NGO partner, Al-Imdaad, which has generously joined the Department in providing hygiene packs to be dispensed to crèches across the province.

The department has prioritised ECD centres (crèches) which render services to children with disability.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
