Minister Winde to table status update on Red Tape Reduction successes in Western Cape municipalities

On Monday (29 June 2015), Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will table a status report on his initiative to slash government red tape.

Minister Winde’s report will outline the achievements of the Red Tape Reduction Unit, in partnership with municipalities across the province.

Highlights include:

  • Reduction in approval times for building plans
  • The launch of electronic systems for building plans
  • Online payment systems for municipal suppliers
  • Provision of SARS services

Minister Winde will also provide an update on the comments received through the unit’s Biz Challenge, a special programme which seeks to remove blockages in the issuing of licences and permits for events, an important contributor to our economy.
