Minister Alan Winde to launch the 2018 Prestige Agri-Awards
Minister of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde will officially launch the 2018 Prestige Agri-Awards tomorrow.
The awards, co-sponsored by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture, and Shoprite, seek to recognise the hard work and dedication of the thousands of people working in the agricultural sector.
Minister Winde said: “this year has been a particularly difficult year for agriculture but the people working in this sector have shown resilience and dedication despite the uncertainty. These awards recognise the hard work of those people, which ensures that we are able to enjoy the fruits of their labours, on our shelves and on our plates.”
Over the next few months, 16 regional winners will be chosen in 11 different categories. The winner in each category, and the overall winner in each region will then compete in the provincial competition. The provincial winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in November.
