Eight deserving beneficiaries will receive the keys to their new homes from the Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, at the Masiphumelele Peoples Housing Project (PHP) in Witsands, Atlantis, near Cape Town on Tuesday 22 October. Included in the beneficiaries will be 64-year-old Mr. Steven Magarosi.
The PHP is a strategic focus of the Western Cape Government, as communities become empowered through the housing process by taking part in the project management, rather than being a passive recipient of a housing opportunity.
The project will consist of 328 houses when complete, at a cost of R26.7 million, and is one of several projects in the area. Also included are the 500 unit Wehbso PHP project, and the 400 unit Masakhe project.
To qualify, beneficiaries need to be South African citizens, not have previously benefitted from a state subsidy, and also earn less than R3500 per month.
All media are invited.
