Lower Tugela Bulk Water Supply Scheme launch

The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Mrs Edna Molewa, together with the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal province Mr Senzo Mchunu and other dignitaries, will on Thursday 24 April 2014 officially launch the Lower Tugela Bulk Water Supply Scheme.

This Water Scheme is critical to the area of iLembe in that it will be a means to ensure security of water supply. It is important that this scheme come to life as it will ensure that the areas in the North Coast, to the north of Durban up to the  Thukela River are supplied with the requisite amount of water as the demand for this precious resource continues to grow in this area.

This launch also seeks to highlight the important and central role played by water in the socio-economic development of all strata of society.

The Minister and Premier therefore invite all media to the day’s events that will include a public engagement session to bring this effort of government to the public domain as government continues to deliver on its promises to the populace.
