Local Government Association and Road Accident Fund sign Memorandum of Understanding, 29 May

SALGA and Road Accident Fund signs agreement to save lives and improve government services

South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and the Road Accident Fund (RAF) will on Friday, 29 May 2015, sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to give birth to a new alliance, enhancing collaboration on road safety and helping to expand the RAF’s footprint through established SALGA platforms and networks.

The MoU will boost local government capacity by improving emergency services and post-crash care in order to save lives during the golden hour. In addition, the alliance will focus on: the expansion of RAF’s footprint within communities via local government platforms; positioning of municipalities as key repositories for information; and promotion of road safety education, rights and responsibilities of all road users.

This will ensure that crash victims can benefit from the Fund’s services closer to home, while giving meaning to government’s Batho Pele principles.
