Limpopo Provincial Treasury will be hosting the 2nd Annual Corporate Governance and Ethical Workshop on the 16 – 18 February 2015 at Klein Karibu outside Bela-bela. The workshop will bring Governance and Ethics experts across the country to present and share valuable information with Provincial Departments, Municipalities and Public Entities under the theme: “Good Governance and Ethical Leadership as Tools to Strengthen Transparency and Accountability”.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide a deeper understanding and exploring good corporate governance and ethical leadership through knowledge sharing with experts in the field of Corporate Governance and Ethical leadership.
Minister Pravin Gordhan and Minister Nhlanhla Nene will both deliver Keynote addresses on the 1st and 2nd day of the workshop respectively. A special guest Mr. Jay Poole from the USA will make a presentation on Best Practices – Procurement, Audit, Ethics and Internal Control.
The Premier, the Speaker, MEC for Finance, Acting Director General, HODs of LPT and CoGHSTA will make valuable presentations highlighting the importance of Corporate Governance and Ethics for healthy financial administration resulting in service delivery that creates public value.
Description
The National Departments of CoGTA, DPSA as well as Professional bodies such as Institute of Directors (IoD), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIASA), Institute of Ethics South Africa, SAICA, SALGA as well as reputable academics will play pivotal role to broaden knowledge sharing and networking within Corporate Governance and Ethics.
Other key role players such as Board Members of Public Entities and Audit Committees of Provincial Departments, Municipalities their Public Entities will play a fundamental role in the Workshop as important governance stakeholders within the Public Sector. Coupled to this is the Office of the Auditor General and Provincial Internal Audit are tasked with the role of leading discussions on matters of Combined Assurance model and reporting in detail.
Provincial Treasury has an oversight responsibility to support all sector Departments, Municipalities and Public Entities to improve their governance processes as well as audit outcomes. This is in an effort to achieve clean audit and improve service delivery.
