The department will, in cooperation with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Limpopo, be conducting the Provincial Golden Games this coming Wednesday in Thohoyandou.
The event is part of both of the departments’ efforts to encourage active ageing and participation by elderly citizens, in line with the South African Policy for Older Persons, which stipulates that older persons have a right to access recreation facilities and programmes.
During the Provincial Games, district teams will be competing and top competitors will be selected for Team Limpopo that will represent the province at the National Golden Games later this month. MEC Joyce Mashamba will also be outlining the activities for October, Social Development Month, during the Provincial event.
