Limpopo hosts Men’s Parliament, 18 Oct

Limpopo Government and “Takuwani Riime” Men’s Movement host Men’s Parliament

The Limpopo Provincial Government in partnership with the “Takuwani Riime” Men’s Movement will host the Limpopo Men’s Parliament at the Lebowakgomo Legislature on the 18 October 2018. “Takuwani Riime” is a Venda expression meaning: “let us stand up together”.

Both institutions will ensure the establishment of the annual Provincial and quarterly District Men’s Parliament. The Province & Districts will develop context specific Provincial Implement & District Operational Plans to operationalize in greater detail to the broad strategic directions and approaches for successful realization of values of the Men’s Charter and goals of Programmes of Action.

This decentralized process will enable the Programmes of Action to be tailored to the specific needs and conditions in communities and for men to hold each other accountable. The Men’s Parliaments will be organized similarly to the structure of the Parliaments of the Republic of South Africa. Members of Parliament (MPs) will be constituency based community representatives identified by men as delegates.

This year on the 24 August at the “Takuwani Riime” National Summit men made a declaration to champion change by Men of South Africa on the elimination of violence against women and children.
