The Public Service Commission to host the Citizens’ Forum in partnership with Limpopo Provincial Government to address issues affecting service delivery.
In the spirit of improving service delivery to address the needs of citizens and to improve the trust between citizens and government, the Public Service Commission (PSC) in partnership with the Limpopo Provincial Government will host the Citizens Forum on Friday, 27 October 2023 at Tshitale.
The Citizens’ Forum methodology enables the PSC to work closely with a particular section of citizens and relevant key stakeholders to define the service delivery needs and collectively find solutions. The Citizens Forum aims to amongst others, evaluate service delivery in the area; assess the delivery of specific service delivery programmes; improve participation in the planning and implementation of service delivery programmes; and make recommendations on how to improve service delivery.
The PSC has identified the communities in the villages of Tshitale Cluster in Makhado Local Municipality, under the Vhembe District Municipality to be invited to participate in the Citizens’ Forum.
The PSC is of the view that the Citizens’ Forum will enable the community members to engage with various institutions including government on issues affecting service delivery in respect of the following, but not limited to:
- Poor roads infrastructure;
- Bulk water supply project not completed;
- Lack of ambulance services due to poor roads infrastructure;
- Unemployment;
- Skills Development;
- Lack of Sports and cultural facilities;
- Departmental Offices closed due to poor road infrastructure;
- School infrastructure in a bad state;
- Lack of Community Hall and Library Services.
Government Departments and other stakeholders will be provided with an opportunity to outline their plans of addressing the service delivery challenges raised by communities, showcase their services and provide assistance to the communities on-site.
As such, all departments and institutions have been invited to bring the required services and relevant information to the community on the day of the Citizens’ Forum.
An invitation has been extended to the Premier of Limpopo Province, the Members of Executive Council, Heads of Departments and Institutions Supporting Democracy. The PSC has also invited the Speaker and relevant Portfolio Committees in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature, to join the meeting as part of their oversight mandate.
