Limpopo Provincial Government under the leadership of Premier, Chupu Stanley Mathabatha in Partnership with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) will host a consultative stakeholders Engagement at Bolvia Lodge, on the 13 September 2017.
Premier Stanley Mathabatha is expected to give a keynote address, followed by the Head of Special Investigating Unit, Advocate Mothibi, who will speak on the legislative mandate of the SIU
The forum will focus on the following theme: Working Together Towards Riding Society of Corruption, Malpractice and Maladministration.
Limpopo provincial government is the third Province in the country following Eastern Cape and North West to host the event of this nature. The Provincial Government and the Special Investigating Unit will meet with a number of stakeholders within the province to engage on the issues that public sectors encounters each day. The overall objective of the Stakeholder Engagement Forum is to combat corruption and maladministration and to ensure that all the people feel safe and secure in their province. The Forum will also highligh the following:
- To create awareness of the SIU in the province and strengthen intergovernmental relations between the SIU and the Limpopo Government
- To create awareness and understanding regarding the role and legislative mandate of the SIU can assist the province in the fight against corruption, malpractice and maladministration
- To create and maintain a positive public perception by communicating government anti-corruption strategies
- To educate citizens in the province on their rights and responsibilities in participating in governance matters.
Among the stakeholders in attendance will be the Premier, MEC's, Executive Mayors & Mayors, NPA, Public Protector, SARS, Hawks, Academia, Auditing Firms, SALGA, Law firms, Chamber of Commerce, DoJ, SAPS, SANDF, etc.
