Limpopo Government celebrates National Children’s Day, 7 Nov

Limpopo Premier, Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and his Members of the Executive Council will celebrate National Children’s day with children from Capricorn District Municipality. This event follows a decision by the South Africa government to declare the first Saturday of November as National Children’s Day.

The aim of the National Children’s Day celebration is to highlight progress being made towards the realisation and promotion of the rights of children. Every child has the right to; a name and a nationality from birth; family care or parental care, or to appropriate alternative care when removed from the family environment; basic nutrition, shelter, basic health care services and social services; be protected from maltreatment, neglect, abuse or degradation; be protected from exploitative labour practices not be required or permitted to perform work.
 
Limpopo Provincial Government is committed to ensuring that children are not exploited and abused. We call on all Limpopo Citizens to assist government by reporting any form of abuse to children in an effort to curb the ill treatment of children.

This year, the day will be celebrated under the theme “My Responsibility as a child in Nation Building: Creating a Caring Society”. Department of Social Development and Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality will identify five Early Childhood Development (ECD) or Drop In Centre Sites to receive government support.
