The Limpopo Department of Education will hold the Provincial Spelling BEE and Debate competitions. The debates to be run in dialogue style will be focused on a challenge many youth are experiencing, Teenage Pregnancy.
Five intermediate phase learners each representing a district will compete in spelling while the other five debate teams compete in addressing issues of teenage pregnancy on behalf of their districts.
The competition started at classroom level in 2012 and has now continued to circuit, district and provincial levels. Spelling and debate competitions encourage learners to read and therefore place learners in the centre of the learning process.
Dialogue on this relevant youth topic will take place on the first day of the function. The second day of this function will be on spelling competitions. The MEC for Education, Mr Ishmael Kgetjepe will address the audience on the first day.
