Limpopo Education honours dedicated, hardworking and creative teachers, 26 Nov

Limpopo Department of Education will host the Provincial Teachers Awards aimed at encouraging excellence in the profession. The event will be used also as a selection process to get professionals to represent the Province at the national stage of the competition.

The National Teaching Awards is one of the ways in which the Department of Education publicly acknowledges and encourages dedicated and caring teachers. The Department recognises their efforts to develop South African learners to become effective and functioning citizens who will in future assist in the realisation of the goals of the Limpopo Development Plan (LDP) 2015 – 2019 and the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030. These educators go an extra mile in inter alia:

  • Raising the public image of the teaching profession.
  • Promoting excellence in teaching performance.
  • Honouring dedicated, creative and effective teachers.
  • Encouraging best practice in schools.
  • Affording South Africans the opportunity to publicly say “thank you” to all outstanding teams or individual teachers in schools.

The National Teaching Awards was launched by Professor Kadar Asmal, former Minister of Basic Education in 2000 to recognise good work of this mother of all professions - teaching.

Limpopo Province, once again, prides itself for having scooped major awards at the past national prize awarding ceremony and believes the same will happen when provincial winners proceed to the national competition. The MEC for Education Mr Ishmael Kgetjepe will award and address teachers at the ceremony which will take place as follows:
