CoGHSTA will host the Back to Basics on Local Governance Summit. The Conference is in line with the National Development Plan (NDP) which was adopted at the Presidential Local Government Summit. “Back to Basics” programme was developed as a result of the vast service delivery challenges that have been identified in municipalities.
Delegates at the summit will reflect, discuss and map the way forward on the current state of local government in the province. The summit will at the end, develop strategic (short, medium & long term) intervention mechanisms on how to address challenges faced by municipalities in order to improve performance of municipalities and provision of service delivery to communities. These intervention programmes will be implemented by all key role players in local government.
Aims and Objectives
The Summit will seek:
- to communicate and share the state of municipalities in Limpopo;
- to present the “Back to Basics” strategy and finalize the Provincial Action Plan; and
- to provide a platform for dialogue on intergovernmental responsibilities to improve performance and service delivery provisioning in municipalities; and
- to provide platform for Traditional Leadership to be involved in the Back to Basics programme.
