The Limpopo Premier, Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and his cabinet joins the world in celebrating and embracing older citizens during the International Day of Older Persons. This day is celebrated under theme “leaving no one behind: promoting a society for all”.
Annually, October the 1st is celebrated worldwide as a day for older persons. This is special day for older persons or senior citizens all over the world. The day is celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse.
It is also a day to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society. Premier Mathabatha cordially invites older Persons from Riba Cross, Greater Tubatse and nearby villages in celebration of World International Day for Older Persons.
On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1st as the International Day of Older Persons. The holiday was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991.
