Legislature to conduct public hearings on the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management (B 14-2012)

The North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will be conducting public hearings on the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management on Thursday, 9 May 2013 across all four districts of the province.

The purpose of the bill is to:

• provide a uniform, effective and comprehensive system of spatial planning and land use management for the Republic;
• ensuring that the system of spatial planning and land use management promotes social and economic inclusion;
• provide for the development principles and norms and standards;
• provide for the sustainable and efficient use of land;
• provide for the corporative government and intergovernmental relations amongst national, provincial and local spheres of government; and
• redress the imbalance of the past and ensure that there is equality in the application of spatial development planning and land use management system.
