The National Education Evaluation and Development Unit (NEEDU) is an evaluation and development institution which is independent of that part of the civil service responsible for the administration of schools. NEEDU’s function is to provide the Minister of Basic Education with an authoritative, analytical and accurate account on the state of schools in South Africa.
On Thursday, 2 May 2013 the NEEDU National Report 2012: The State of Literacy Teaching and Learning in the Foundation Phase will be launched by the CEO, Dr Nick Taylor. Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga will respond to the findings.
