Labour hosts Free State Provincial Employer Advocacy Campaign, 11 Sept

Department of Labour to engage employers during its provincial employer campaign

The Department of Labour in the Free State province will be hosting a Provincial Employer Advocacy Campaign in Bloemfontein. This campaign will be held on the 11th of September 2018 at President Hotel from 09:00am to 13:00 in the afternoon.

The campaign is aimed at converging employers and employer organisations in and around the province to a mutually beneficial session which will see Department of Labour officials sharing vital information about the Department’s service offerings.

To be officiated by the Head of the Department of Labour in the Free State, this occasion is envisaged to establish and strengthen partnerships with employers on issues of common interest.  The session is also expected to culminate in the improvement of compliance to labour laws.

“We are mindful of the fact that we need strategic stakeholders and partners of the department to fully deliver as per the mandate bestowed on us.  Thus we saw it fit to annually organise events of this nature to ensure that employers fully understand their roles and responsibilities insofar as labour laws are concerned,” said Nomfundo Douw-Jack – Free State Provincial Head of the Department of Labour.

Public Employment Services unit will make a presentation speaking to the Employment Services Act and the Employment Services South Africa (ESSA), which is used to recruit potential employees for employers.  ESSA is therefore an automated matching platform where work-seekers are matched with available job opportunities.

Other business units of the department such as Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) as well as Compensation Fund (CF) will also make presentations to attendees.

Crucial information relating to the Unemployment Insurance Act and Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act together with step by step processes on how to declare your employees on the UIF’s new system called UFiling will be shared with attendees.

On the same token, critical information regarding Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, employer’s responsibilities thereto, how to report an incident, and how to make optimum use of the CF’s new online system called CF-Filing will also be presented.

Employers and employer organisations in all sectors of our economy are invited to attend this august occasion to equip themselves on labour legislation as well as processes and procedures they need to follow as they do business with the Department of Labour.

Members of the media are also invited.
