Department of Labour set to host Employment Equity Roadshows/Public Hearings on amendments to EE Act across the country

It is again that time of the year in which the Department of Labour Employment Equity (EE) Directorate will be conducting the 2018 Employment Equity Roadshows in the form of Public Hearings throughout the country. 

This year’s Department of Labour’s Employment Equity Directorate’s long-awaited national public hearings will focus on the amendments to Section 53 of EE Act and the unveiling of draft EE regulations and its implications for South Africa’s workplaces.

The Department plans to use the public hearings to solicit public comments from the stakeholders and advocate one the 2018 on-line Reporting.

The EE public hearings are targeted at stakeholders such as: employers or heads of organisations, assigned senior EE managers, consultative forum members, human resources practitioners, trade unions and employees.

The hearings are set to commence in the Eastern Cape Province on Tuesday, 02 October 2018 at the East London ICC, 2 Marine Park Complex, 22 Esplanade St, and then followed by Port Elizabeth town on 03 October 2018 at the Running Waters Kragga Kamma Rd, Theescombe AH. 

The hearings are lined up as follows: Western Cape (04 October), Pietermaritzburg (09 October), Durban (10 October), Kimberly (11 October), Rustenburg (12 October), Witbank (16 October), Polokwane (17 October), Bloemfontein (18 October), Pretoria (25 October) and culminating in Johannesburg on (26 October).

This year’s EE public hearings on the amending of EE Act and draft regulations will be held under the theme: “Real transformation makes business sense”.

The hearing sessions will be held from 08:30 to 14:00 and members of the media are invited.
