Department of Labour “Taking Services to the People”
The Department of Labour in partnership with the Makana Local Municipality will be taking services to the people from October 4 to 7.
The initiative will kick off with a service campaign at Southwell Manley Flats and Bathurst this Wednesday, where the Department will be providing services such as work-seeker registrations, inspection and enforcements, registration of entities as well as registrations for Unemployment Insurance Fund and Compensation Fund claims.
The Chief Director, Eastern Cape Provincial Operations: Mr Bheki Gama said the Department will be providing a one stop shop for all departmental services.
The campaign will be followed by a breakfast session with departmental stakeholders on October 6, 2017, at Graham Hotel in Grahastwon as well as an exhibition of the department’s services on Saturday at the Makana Local Municipality.
“The aim of the event is to eradicate the scourge of unemployment and poverty and also to develop and promote growth in the Makana,” Gama said.
The Department intends using the platform to create an engagement discussion where organisations/companies can work hand in hand with the department on employment creation, supporting and promoting creation of small businesses and co-operatives in order to develop and empower the communities in the area.
The service delivery initiative will involve other government departments, educational institutions, Wholesale and Retail Sector, Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), and financial institutions who will render services to the people on the spot.
The Department of Labour’s vision is to strive for a labour market which is conducive for investment, economic growth, employment creation and decent work. This initiative will be propelling the department to the achievement of this vision.
