The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training will be briefed on the implementation of the recommendations arising from a report by the Ministerial Committee for the Review of the Funding of Universities on Wednesday, 25 February.
The Committee will be briefed by the Task Team and Reference Group on the progress that has been made on the recommendation by the Ministerial Committee, which was chaired by Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, who is now the Deputy President.
The overall purpose of the Committee, which released its report in 2013, was to review the experiences of a six-year period of partial and full implementation of the current funding framework for public universities as well as to determine what the university system’s resource requirements would be over the next five to 10 years.
