A special ceremony for unveiling a commemorative plaque is scheduled for tomorrow, Heritage Day, at the Harold Cressy High School where MEC Schäfer will address ‘The importance of schools as a heritage institution’.
Recently, the Council of Heritage Western Cape unanimously decided that Harold Cressy High School in Roeland Street officially be declared a Provincial Heritage Site under the National Heritage Resources Act of 1999.
MEC Schafer will be unveiling a plaque that will formally acknowledge the school’s new status as a National Heritage site. It is also a historic moment for the school, as it is a formal recognition of the educational, social, cultural and political contributions over the years of the entire Harold Cressy community.
