Health Deputy Minister Dr Gwen Ramokgopha to donate blood

As part of the Public Health Sector to promote healthy lifestyle and the saving of lives, Deputy Minister of Health Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will heed the call by the South African National Blood Services to donate blood tomorrow, 9 January 2012 at Queenswood in Pretoria.

As a regular blood donor, the Deputy Minister encourages South Africans to donate blood to those who need it, particularly after the December festive season when many people lost blood in road accidents.

The requirements for donating blood are:

  • Between the ages of 16-65 years old.
  • Weigh more than 50kg’s.
  • Have eaten a good meal before donating.
  • Lead a sexually safe lifestyle.
